The University of Karlsruhe, one of the most renown Technical Universities of Germany, offers since 1991 a two-year Master of Science Programme in Land and Water Resources Development with particular reference to the Developing World.
We like to announce a new course which will start in October 2006:
M.Sc. Course in Land and Water Resources Development
Course duration: October 2006 to September 2008
Deadline for applications: April 15th 2006
After successful completion of the course, participants should:
•be experts in land and water resources planning
•be able to manage multi-disciplinary projects
•be in a position to give advice on the long-term use and preservation of natural resources
•have an understanding of complex bio-physical-economic systems.
Target group: Mainly civil engineers (hydraulic engineering, sanitary engineering, town and regional planning), agricultural engineers and engineers from environmental sciences-related courses
Course language: English
The course comprises four six-months terms.
The first three terms cover various aspects of water and land management:
Natural sciences and development potentials
Fundamentals of socio-economics
Data evaluation and mapping techniques
Agriculture and rural engineering
Water management and energy
Waste treatment and environmental protection
Planning and transportation
Management and administration.
During the fourth term students are required to write the master thesis.
Karlsruhe is a city of 270,000 inhabitants, situated in the beautiful Rhine valley, close to the wooded mountains of the Black Forest, half way between Heidelberg and Strasbourg (France).
